Kenny White's Las Vegas Oddsmakers Rankings: College Football Week 12

Of the four, only Auburn has to play in a conference championship and arguably the toughest one in the SEC. The Tigers already know their opponent, South Carolina (14). The Gamecocks humbled the Gators 36-14 last Saturday in “The Swamp” by running it right down their throats. The victory earned South Carolina their first SEC East division crown and a trip to Atlanta’s Georgia Dome on Dec. 4.
Last we touched on all of the off-the-field issues surrounding Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. His status was up in the air on Saturday but after pumping up the crowd in pregame festivities, the Tigers’ gunslinger helped light up Georgia, 49-31. Head coach Gene Chizik and his staff won’t address the allegations but a suspension is still possible.
Auburn is off this week, but next week’s Iron Bowl showdown against the defending national champion, Alabama (5), is going to be huge.
We asked Kenny White, former Las Vegas oddsmaker and creator of the LV Rankings, to give us some early numbers for the big matchup next week and the upcoming conference title game.
Iron Bowl
With Newton- Auburn at Alabama (-2.5)
Without Newton – Auburn at Alabama (-7.5)
SEC ChampionshipWith Newton – Auburn (-6) vs. South Carolina
Without Newton – Auburn (Pick’em) vs. South Carolina
According to White, Newton is about a five to six point difference to Auburn. We also asked White about potential title games and to no surprise, most of the contests will open up at pick ‘em or close to that.
Possible BCS Championships Oregon (Pick’em) vs. Auburn
Oregon (Pick’em) vs. TCU
Oregon (Pick’em) vs. Boise State
Auburn (-1.5) vs. TCU
Auburn (-1.5) vs. Boise State
TCU (-1) vs. Boise State
“The general public will probably side with Boise State if they get a chance to compete in the big game,” explained White. “It’s pretty sad that TCU or Boise could get left out of the national championship picture again, when I believe both of them are just as good as anybody else in the country. And they wonder why March Madness works so well and appeals to the masses.”
The SEC has eight teams listed in this week’s LV Top 30. The Big 12 and Big 10 both have five schools ranked, while the Pac 10 has four and the ACC three. The Mountain West Conference and WAC both have two, while Pittsburgh (25) still remains the lone Big East team ranked despite losing last week to Connecticut (28-30) and having four setbacks on the season.
Below is a complete breakdown of this week’s rankings from White.
